Eight fishermen were killed and five others injured on Wednesday when an explosion targeted a fishing boat in the coast of the Directorate of Al Lahya, north of the province of Hodeidah west of the country.
There were conflicting reports about the cause of the blast. While the Huthis group, which controls the area, said the blast was caused by aerial bombardment of the Saudi led Arab fighters, fishermen say the reason was a naval mine planted by the Houthis.
According to identical sources in the area, the eight dead fishermen were killed on the spot, while others were injured in varying degrees, and two of the dead miraculously survived.
They pointed out that the victims belonged to one family, who were on their way to the sea for fishing.
